Le Temps des Cerises

Updated: Dec 30, 2018

A divey steak place in Place D’Italie.

Once we arrived it was clear this was more local than anticipated. It was packed to the brim with people - young, beautiful French people I might add - and we had to wait a while before they could seat the two of us. No one in the entire restaurant spoke English (whether by choice or inability), and there were no English translations on the menu.

The only thing we could identify on the menu was the steak frite, so that's what we got. The steak frite here, which was obviously served with bread and salad, really accentuated how English and American bastardisations of French food are so off. The rare steak with peppers and the crispy, thin fries were exactly what we wanted our first night in Paris.

This place is a must for anyone who wants to experience a bit of Parisian culture; it was high quality food at the tiniest hole in the wall. The bustling, vibrant steak place was actually one of the highlights of our trip.
