This trendy cafe's brunch special keeps me up at night.
When I say that cafe Alsur is one of the best brunches I've ever had, I truly mean it. Yes I know about Bills in Sydney, Granger & Co. in London, and John's Wife Freda in NYC. But this place is on a new level.
This bohemian cafe (with multiple locations) had an hour wait the first time I stumbled upon it. But once I saw the menu I was determined to go back.
They have carrot cake and red velvet pancakes, funky waffles, iberico ham (i.e. jamon serrano) on everything. But the real gem is the eggs florentine.

I'm not a huge eggs benedict person. I don't even like eggs benedict, but when I saw this dish I couldn't say no. It's two poached eggs, a freshly baked bagel, iberico ham, spinach, and hollandaise sauce (which I ordered on the side).
The bagel was hot, the eggs perfectly runny, and the ham salty and fresh.
At the El Born location there is outdoor seating, so if it's warm outside you can bask in the sun while enjoying any of their specialty brunches or excellent coffees. It's situated in an open square, which is a lovely spot to spend an afternoon.
