Maka Maka

This hawaiian beachfront burger joint is perfectly located for a day on the boardwalk.

Maka Maka, Barcelona

It can be tough finding a place close to the beach that isn’t either a) overpriced b) disgusting or c) limited in options. If you’re walking along the beach and think that one more patatas bravas may kill you, Maka Maka will be a god send.

Although Maka Maka isn’t on the boardwalk, it’s visible from it and a 5 minute walk tops. The retro burger joint is mostly outdoor seating, with rustic wooden tables and  colorful chairs scattered across the area.

It’s situated next to two or three other restaurants with similar layouts, making the entire area a busy centre of food, drink, and music. The area isn’t obstructed by anything, making it a good compromise if you want to eat and tan.

It's pretty hard to go wrong with their food. I had the classic “Topless” burger which was divine, but they also have tons of vegan and vegetarian options. One of their specialty burgers even has pineapple in it.

Maka Maka is also great for a drink after a day at the beach. They have fun cocktails, lemonades, ice teas, smoothies, and beers.

And it’s open until 3 am on Thursdays and Fridays, so grab a burger and a beer and party all night long.
